Test Turnaround Guide
Please book your appointment at least 4 weeks in advance to allow time for receiving your test kit, returning it to the lab, and processing the results.
Ensure the appointment is booked under the name of the person taking the test.
Histamine is a naturally occurring compound involved in immune function, digestion and the nervous system. Your body relies on enzymes, nutrients and effective clearance pathways to regulate histamine levels.
The DNA Histamine Test analyses genetic variations associated with histamine breakdown and clearance, helping to identify potential areas where your body may be less efficient at processing histamine.
It looks at two key pathways:
- Diamine oxidase (DAO): Primarily responsible for breaking down histamine in the gut. DAO activity can be influenced by gastrointestinal health, nutritional status and certain dietary or medication-related factors.
- Histamine-N-methyltransferase (HNMT): Helps break down histamine within tissues, including the nervous system and lungs.
The test can provide useful insights into your individual histamine metabolism, helping to inform personalised nutritional and lifestyle recommendations.
